Crowdfunding

The strength of a people. The power of community. This is what crowdfunding is all about. Coming together to support projects that matter to you.

Every three months, we will feature a new set of special projects supporting programs and services throughout our Jewish community. You can help make a difference by putting books in the hands of children. By providing safe shelter to Jews in Israel. By giving a hot, nutritious meal to a senior who lives alone.

Jewish Community Voice: Help everyone in our community stay connected

The Jewish Community Voice serves as the watchdog and news hub of the vibrant South Jersey Jewish community. Unfortunately there are those in this community who cannot afford the $25 subscription and therefore lose their connection to the local community that the bi-weekly newspaper provides. Cost to print the Voice has risen throughout the years and the opportunity to provide free subscriptions has dwindled.

The Voice is looking to fund subscriptions for approximately 200 disadvantaged families/individuals who cannot afford to receive the Voice. The goal with these subscriptions would be to help these families stay connected to the local Jewish community and receive additional information about programs and services provided by the community, the Jewish Federation of Southern NJ and its agencies.

Each subscription to the Voice is $25 annually, equaling  $5,000 per year.

Kellman Brown Academy: Project-based learning

Lia is in fourth grade and researching one of the fifty states for a class project. She chose Florida. Lia utilizes the iPad and books for research, though has difficulty organizing her thoughts when writing. Lia employs an iPad with word prediction software. This helps her form the sentence she wants by typing and choosing from the options the software gives, using her active working memory. Lia remains in her class while other students are using their iPads. This accommodation is private, and Kellman Brown Academy (KBA) is able to differentiate her education in a respectful way.

Matthew, a first grader, is having a reading evaluation recorded using an iPad. After much growth during the year, he proudly reads a more challenging book than he did in September. Matthew is excited to reflect on his progress and see how much he has improved.

At KBA, iPad technology is a top priority. Mobile, shared technology enables K-8 classrooms to complete research and make presentations, and reinforces multi-disciplinary areas while differentiating instruction. To ensure ALL students have access to iPads, KBA needs three iPad carts to organize, manage, safely sync, store, share, and charge them effectively.

Politz Preschool East: Playground equipment

Hannah is a new student at Politz Preschool East. She has spent her morning learning the Aleph Bet song, drawing, and building with her classmates. After lunch, Hannah’s teacher announces “Recess!” Hannah is excited to climb, slide, and swing with her friends. It’s a time for learning safe play and having fun. Social-emotional growth is critically important to child development, and the playground is one place to practice social skills.

Politz Preschool East is an outgrowth of Politz Day School’s successful early childhood program on the west side of Cherry Hill. Hannah’s parents are thrilled that a Jewish preschool option leading to Jewish day school is now available near their home. They want the best for their daughter and have high hopes for a state-of-the-art early childhood education, complete with a fantastic playground.

A playground for Politz Preschool East is top priority. Playgrounds are a great way for children to make friends, increase movement, and build strength. Please join us in this effort to create a state-of-the-art campus so that Hannah and her classmates have a place to develop social skills and fitness while having fun.
